In a summer full of festivals, my next stop was Southend City Jam in the coastal town Southend on Sea.
Amidst the bustling streets and colorful murals of the city, I had the new challenge of turning a massive black wall into art. I chose to paint a skull, I wanted it to be something impressive so I decided to make it in what we call fluorescent pink colors. The lighting in this work was the key pieceThe fluorescent pink hues seemed to dance and flicker, casting an ethereal glow that made the skull come to life. The organic elements – the flowers and the bird – were a resource from my artistic repertoire, representing the fragile beauty that can be found even in the most unexpected places.
The Southend City Jam was indeed a stage like no other, where artists from diverse backgrounds converged to showcase their skills. With more than 200 guest artists it has become one of the largest street art festivals in Europe. It's always great to meet artists from other parts of the world and hang out with old friends. Southend-on-Sea, for those few days, had become a canvas for artistic expression, and I was grateful to have contributed my unique vision to this extraordinary event.
